Junk Drawer

Do you have a shoe box filled with old office supplies? Sticky notes, markers even a box of paper clips can be fun for children to use.

Give a few items to your child to explore. A preschooler's hands can be strong enough to use a hole puncher. A stapler will need adult supervision at first.

You could set up a pretend office on your kitchen table for the morning.

Be open minded about what a child uses the items for. He might load up his dump truck with paper clips. He might put rubber bands around the door knobs, he might punch holes for half an hour.

It's a free activity, one where your child can learn new vocabulary and have fun with you.
