Preschoolers love to help around the house. Why not extend this joy of helping to your neighbors and relatives?
There are many opportunities to help. Bake cookies to share with others. Help bring in newspapers when someone is on vacation. Offer to take care of a pet while someone is away. Pick up litter on your street (make sure you have gloves and that the litter isn't something harmful). If a neighbor is carrying groceries in to the house, offer to help.
Over time, your child will learn from these activities and soon be thinking of ways on his own to be a helpful neighbor and family member.
